Types of Blog Posts

Now that you have set the stage for your blog, it's up to you to decide how you want to continue.

I am providing a list of types of blog posts for you, but because each of your blog topics are different and have their own unique tone, you need to choose what type of blog post works best for you each week. Review the list of types of blogs on Google Classroom and peruse some examples online. Then, choose the type of blog post you want to write for this week. In the Types of Blog Posts table, be sure to include the title of your blog and the date you wrote it. By the end of the semester, you will have a plethora of blog posts!

In my blog, I chose to write a mix of "types of posts". I went with seasonal and round-up. You can choose to do a "mix-up" post like this as well.

Your First Blog Post

Now is the time to start your blog! Hopefully you've settled on a topic and a title. If not, take some time do a little research. This first blog post will be your most important blog post. It sets the tone for your whole blog. But remember, you get to choose that tone, the voice you want to be. Your first post should be an introduction to your topic - not yourself. You readers searched and found your blog because they're interested in the topic, not you (Sorry!). Employ the creative nonfiction techniques we discussed in class. Be sure to add some personal experience (scene/s) to your post, but also make sure the reader knows what to expect out of your blog. Your post needs to be at least 300 words. You can go through the websites below to help you start your post. The top two sounded the most helpful, but you can explore the others as well, if you like.
